About this experience

The Cassava Baking Experience is a six-hour Garifuna food experience that leaves Hopkins, Belize at 8:30 AM for a cassava farm in Sarawee, where you help bake your own cassava and taste the foods made from it.

Cassava has fed Garifuna families for generations, and turning the root into bread has always been shared work. You see where it grows, take part in the baking yourself, and taste the different foods it becomes.

Transport from Hopkins to the farm and back is provided.

Where is the farm?

In Sarawee, near Hopkins. Transport from Hopkins and back is included.

What time do we leave?

We leave Hopkins at 8:30 AM. The experience runs about six hours.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

Yes — tell us in advance.

What should I bring?

Sun protection, insect repellent (natural repellent is available), light clothing and comfortable shoes.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 30 or more days before for a full refund minus a 10% processing fee, or 15 days before for a 50% refund or full credit toward a future booking. Cancellations less than 7 days before are non-refundable. The full policy is on our Terms page.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we cancel because conditions are unsafe, you'll receive a refund, minus a 10% processing fee for card payments.
