About this rental

Kayak Rental lets you explore Fresh Water Creek Lagoon in Hopkins, Belize, on your own, for four hours in a single or double kayak.

Sometimes you don't want a guide — you just want the water. Take a kayak out and go at your own pace through a quiet stretch of mangrove channels and open water, with birdlife the whole way. Manatees live here, and crocodiles keep to the banks.

The lagoon is calm, flat water. You'll get a safety briefing and a life vest before you set off.

Rentals run in daylight only. The lagoon can glow after dark, but that trip goes out with a guide — see Bio-luminescent Lagoon Kayaking.

Planning your rental

How much does it cost?

A single kayak is $25. A double kayak is $20 per person, for two people.

How long is the rental?

Four hours, in daylight only.

Do I need kayaking experience?

No. The lagoon is calm, flat water, and you'll get a safety briefing and a life vest before you set off.

Can I rent a kayak at night?

No — rentals are daylight only. To see the lagoon glow after dark, book the guided Bio-luminescent Lagoon Kayaking tour.

Where do we meet?

On the northern side of Hopkins, at the estuary where the lagoon meets the sea — locals call it Hawaii. If you're staying in Hopkins, we'll pick you up from your hotel for free.

What should I bring?

Sun protection, insect repellent (we also have natural repellent), light clothing, and shoes that can get wet and dry quickly. Bring swimwear if you'd like a swim in the sea at Hawaii afterwards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 30 or more days before for a full refund minus a 10% processing fee, or 15 days before for a 50% refund or full credit toward a future booking. Cancellations less than 7 days before are non-refundable. The full policy is on our Terms page.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If we cancel because conditions are unsafe, you'll receive a refund, minus a 10% processing fee for card payments.

Are tips included?

No. Tips aren't included in the price. They're never expected, and always appreciated by the people who host you.
