About this day
The Garifuna Immersion & Rainforest Hike is a six-hour day that begins with our family on Kalipuna Cultural Heritage Island in Hopkins, Belize, and continues with a guided hike through Bocawina National Park to its waterfalls.
The first half is our cultural and culinary experience: drumming, dance, and cooking hudut over the fire hearth, with the history that sits behind all of it.
Then Bocawina. You hike rainforest trails to the waterfalls, with birds and monkeys overhead much of the way, and you can swim in the natural pools beneath the falls.
Culture in the morning, rainforest in the afternoon — a full day that shows both sides of this part of Belize.
