Cultural immersions

Ways to spend a day with us.

Every experience is hands-on, led by our family, and capped at a small group. Cook over open fire, put your hands on a drum, paddle the lagoon — or sit by the water and let the day slow down. Prices are per person in USD; tips are not included.

Cooking & food

Cook with us

Grate cassava for ereba, pound green plantain for hudut, then eat it at the same table we do.

Drumming & dance

Drums and dance

Hands on a primero, taught by a drummer who started at five — then dance to it.

Healing & wellness

Rest and remedy

A massage that begins in the herbal garden, and the plants Garifuna and Maya healers still use.

Kayaking & lagoon

On the water

Paddle Freshwater Creek Lagoon — by daylight, or after dark when the water lights up.

Stay on the island

Stay the night

One to three nights on Kalipuna in one of our two solar-powered rooms, with the experiences built in.

Online experiences

From wherever you are

Cook, drum and learn Garifuna with our family, live on Google Meet.

Not sure which one

Tell us what you’re drawn to and we’ll suggest the day.

Some people come to cook. Some come for the drums. Some just want the water and the quiet. Write to us with your dates and we’ll put something together.
