Easy — some walking on the farm
About this day
The Authentic Maya Culinary & Chocolate Tour is a six-hour day in southern Belize, booked through Palmento Grove: a hands-on cooking class in a Maya kitchen, then a visit to a Maya cacao farm where you make chocolate by hand.
You start at the hearth with Maya cooks — grinding corn, stirring the stews, and learning methods passed down through generations.
Then you travel to a cacao farm and walk among the organic cacao trees. You follow chocolate the whole way, from pod to bean to bar, and with a local chocolatier’s guidance you make some yourself.
Cacao holds real significance in Maya life, and you’ll hear about that as well as taste it.
