About this trip
Traditional Kayak Fishing is a four-hour guided fishing trip from Hopkins, Belize, led by a local fisherman who has fished these waters his whole life. You keep what you catch.
You head out onto Fresh Water Creek Lagoon — or offshore, depending on the day — with your guide. The traditional boat here is the dorey, and the way he fishes has fed Garifuna families for generations.
The water is busy: tarpon, snook, snapper, grouper and barracuda all live here. Manatees come up, and crocodiles hold the banks.
Then you cast, and you talk. Most of the trip is lines in the water and a conversation about how this place works. Your catch goes home with you.
